FAQs

Does my child need any experience?

No. We find that if a child is willing to get on the ice, my staff will take it from there! Our job is to get your child to feel comfortable and feel "part of the group.

Does a parent need to come on the ice?

No, we prefer to introduce the child to skating without a parent. I have the most wonderful staff and a cone is what the child holds on to to stabilize them. We have allowed a parent on to appease a child if need be.

Do I need to buy a full hockey equipment package?

No, all the equipment would hinder movement. We require elbow and knee protection along with a hockey helmet with a face mask. Hockey skates should be checked for proper fit instead of a hand-me-down "that's close" in fit. Winter gloves or mittens are ideal for beginners so they can hold onto a cone. Hockey gloves are too cumbersome.

Will my child be with kids who have been skating for a while and feel out of place?

We split the kids up into 3 groups by age/ability and introduce games/skills that are appropriate to their level. We gradually wean the beginners off the cone and the more experienced players are exposed to more complex drills. The better skaters are the better hockey players!
